Al and Annie Cameron Alistair and Annie Cameron have a great depth of horticultural knowledge, having been involved in the gardening / nursery industry for the past 25 years, and holding key positions in land rehabilitation and nursery operations. They primarily work in areas such as amenity planting including species selection, irrigation installation and maintenance. They were involved with the development and implemented the methods used for seed pre-treatment necessary for the successful rehabilitation of disturbed land. Other key areas have been herbarium maintenance, vegetation monitoring and species identification. Since moving to the North West, they have become extremely knowledgeable about the local vegetation and have worked with the Mount Isa City Council Parks and Gardens and with the Environment Department of Mount Isa Mines on revegetation projects. In 1999 they began their nursery, Endemic Plants, and since then have worked continuously to improve propagation methods and the production of plants native to this particular region. They collect seeds locally and from areas in the Northern Territory, and use those seeds to propagate plants for use in their revegetation projects or to direct seed in areas to be regenerated. |
