Tree to 10m. Bark has thick thorns. Flowers are bright red and pea shaped Novermber to December. Nectar producing flowers are a favourite with honey-eating birds.

Small tree to 4m. Flowers white, October to March. This species varies greatly from mallee to forest tree. Foliage, bluish. It grows in sandplains and occasionally on rocky hillslopes.

Small tree to 6m. Flowers are small creamy, white, February to March. Bark is white or pinkish. It is widespread and grows on hillsides and ridges as well as on open flat areas with spinifex. Useful firewood and Aborigines used it for medicine.

Small mallee tree 3 to 5m. Flowers are small and white usually May to August but can be sporadic. It grows in low open woodlands on plains and along gullies.

It makes a good amenity tree.

Silver-leaved Box or Western Silver Box

Tree or mallee to 6m. Foliage is bluish. Flowers are creamy, yellow June to July and November to January. It grows in stands on low, flat country with sandy clay loam soils. Bark was used for aching limbs and a liquid was drunk for colds and fever.
